Re: Websites claiming survivors

most of the sites, such as wtc.ny.com one have disclaimers. (see below)

they aren't trying to give false hope - just provide a way that regular
people can post info that they know.

it's not their fault if someone stupid screws with it.

information and the sharing there of is a good thing.

rhys.

p.s. if you're a geek, they need your help too. it feels good to have
something to contribute.

ATTENTION: NY.com cannot guarantee the validity of the information,
because it is entered by the general public on a form on our site.

In an effort to help people find out about their loved ones, NY.com has
been donating their time and technology to offer a place where the general
public can enter personal knowledge about survivors. We hope you
appreciate this service and use it wisely. We are not a government or
official site, but a private business voluntarily contributing our
efforts.

We are doing our very best to edit out incorrect entries as fast as
possible; we are in no way responsible for the inconsiderate acts of
people posting false entries or otherwise misusing this resource. Be
patient and contact our office only if you have extraordinary information
to contribute to the list. Other contacts will only hinder our main
efforts -- to help you publicly post and continually have access to
information about WTC survivors. All of the information that we have
collected is online; we do not have any additional information.

This list is available at http://wtc.ny.com/
The list is UPDATED every 15-30 minutes and it is alphabetically SORTED by
last name.

If you are looking for someone who is NOT on this list, please check back.

Someone may update their entry with LOCATION information, so please check
back.

If someone was entered by accident, their name may be REMOVED, so please
check back.

If you definitely KNOW the status of a survivor,

please add them to the list.

If you have an UPDATE on someone, please please click here.

If you are certain that an entry is INCORRECT, please click here .
