{when a liner note is more than a liner note}

i'm trying to think of what some other good
liner note/tray liner ideas have been really
good...

the squint entertainment (steve taylor's
brainchild) releases are pretty brilliant.
i wonder who thought of putting the cover
on the back (see sixpence "s/t," chevelle,
waterdeep, insyderz, burlap distributed by
squint, etc). it gives the album cover art
slightly more room to work with. i think
the cover getting a few more square inches
is quite alright with me.

it is weird when pulling a CD out... i have
it turned upsidedown most of the time.

i like waterdeep's idea on their indie "sink
or swim" CD. it's a reversable liner. one
side is greenish-yellow with a kitchen sink.
the other side is dark green with a snorkel.
the back tray liner is also reversable with
corresponding colors. it's pretty bitchin'...

any other unique ideas out there?

cardboard/paper jewelcases annoy me sometimes.
sometimes the art is cool with those, but
sometimes they get damaged and are hard and/or
impossible to replace.

radiohead's special edition :kid a: book was
fun. weird paintings. impractical to fit in
a CD rack, but fun nonetheless.

almost done with the darkness,
Dan
