ok...here is my take on everything i've read therein...
Dido: she is wonderful, lovely, i couldn't live without that cd (believe me,
it was stolen and i freaked) if she wants to respect eminem for being
different (read:obnoxious) then that is her bag, and besides, what awesome
exposure it's given her! of course, i've been stricken with a terrible case
of didoismineitis, but oh well....
Stuff I Must Listen To So I Can Be Happy That Isn't OTR: David Gray, TRAVIS,
Coldplay, Radiohead, The Carpenters, ABBA, Muse (when I'm angry), the
soundtracks of "Pippin", "Godspell", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Joseph" and
"So I Married An Axe Murderer", Sixpence, Innocence Mission, 10,000 Maniacs,
The Beatles, Natalie Merchant, The Sundays, Blur, Sam Phillips, Petula
Clark, Bjork, U2, Tori Amos, select Juliana Hatfield, Fiona Apple and Dot
Allison.
Rufus: He kicks arse. That's it...even that "Instant Pleasure" song is
awesome.
My Mix Tapes: Couldn't live without 'em...they contain many 80's pleasures,
guilty and otherwise, all the jangle of an oldies station without all that
Motown (except Midnight Train To Georgia), and the more quirky stuff like
Jeff Buckley, Belle & Sebastian, Oasis, Massive Attack, Elliott Smith and
New Kids On The Block.
Fleming & John: I think they're terribly overrated. I own both CDs and don't
want to sell them, there are some neat songs on there....but I just don't
see why everyone freaks out over them. I guess we could say I feel about F&J
like many of you non-Radio-Heads feel about Thom & Co.
Other Stuff: I'm also currently listening to The Police, Shonen Knife, Blake
Babies, Wyclef Jean, Dixie Chicks and The Pretenders.
Band: I'm in one! OK, well we don't *technically* exist, but there will be a
CD released fairly soon. The name is rainy day assembly and we will be
appearing on the tribute CD (yay) if you want a sample.
OK, I think that's all I have to say right now.
