This is a really, really interesting question...

I don't know... Ayn Rand said that sex is the ultimate act of
selfishness. (Keeping in mind that in an objectivist paradigm,
selfishness is the ultimate virtue) I don't know that I belive that
anymore.

I'm having a really had time even formulating an answer for this. I want
to say that it is a far better thing to give then to receive, but putting
that into practice is a different thing. I think its scaryer to be the
one giving pleasure, then to be the one receiving it, it makes you more
vulnerable (in an already very vulnerable situation) to criticism, to
hurt.

I guess that maybe what I think (at least at this particular moment :-)
is that ultimately the giving and the getting have to be about equal, in
order for both parties to be fulfilled and happy. Healthy sex, almost
has to be about sharing, and sharing goes two ways.
I think though that it is a very, very, scary thing to put that into
practice.

those are my thoughts for the evening.

goodnight.
