spin me some bostony tunes.

so over the weekend (last weekend, the weekend
of the otr christmas show, the weekend of the
elephant brunch, the weekend of the tinsel tree)
we were sitting at bruce's after uno's...and i'm in
the middle of a conversation with dan...and out of
the mumbling coming from the general direction
of j.marie/jay/linzi/don i pick up the words "blah,
blah, blah, jonatha brooke"...at which point i about
fall off bruce's blue/black/navy/charcoal/grey (you
pick) couch...

how excited am i that people out there have heard
of these newfound treasures of mine, these songs
from a bostonly chick named jonatha...not to
mention her former cohort, jennifer kimball...and
that dar williams chick don's plugging (ask him) is
pretty good, too...(they go so far as to say the music
scene in boston is 'incestuous'...and in this case,
inbreeding seems to do good things for the human
gene pool...)

so as with peter mulvey, and of course, otr, i pledge to
do my best to infiltrate the music collections of
those around me with such songs as "kissing in
the car," "gagna's song," "meet me in the twilight"
(don's favorite), "crumbs," "west point," "fatso," and
many others...

to which i say, yay dan...may others inspire to grow
as dan has, as i do...may the rest of you come to
understand the sonic and intellectual lullaby that
drifts westward here and leaves me a little more
content with my lot in life...

mgn.

np: random jonatha brooke mp3s.
