I saw Patty Griffin for free last night.

Sometimes, I really like Nashville. Last night, Patty Griffin played an
outdoor show for free. Man, what a voice. She sang a new song that it
going to be on her next album (due out in January) that was inspired by
seeing Buddy and Julie Miller perform at the Bluebird Cafe. It was a great
song, the only line I remember is "You don't like to hear the truth coming
out of my mouth"... or something like that. They had the sound cranked
super loud, loud to the point of skull rattling, so it actually sounded the
best when I had to leave a little early and walked (very slowly) the few
blocks back to my car. And there was a full moon, and I really wished I
lived around there and could sit out on my porch in the dark and listen to
that voice.
I am not a musician, or a die-hard Patty fan, so a kinda generic review is
the best I can give.

I was afraid that by leaving early I might have missed an appearance by
Emmylou or the Millers but I am relieved to hear that I only missed seeing
them on TV since they were apparently
all in New York taping the late show or something.

That's all.

Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?
