go down easy
okay. so i just figured out 'go down easy' for you. is that the song you
wanted? i accidentally erased your message so i don't know who needs this
info. go down easy is a simple song with an unconventional combination of
chords.
the chords are D G C F A as far as i can tell by playing along as i
listen. i'll double check all this later.
i think the bass line notes are d--f#--g--b-a-g-d. .
chords on verse: D for a few measures- then G
'go down easy babe, go down slow.' etc...
then somewhere with 'take all the time you need, there's no place else to
go' it changes to C- then back to G (while the bass plays chord's 3rd, i.e.
B), then D.
on the part that says (is this what's called a "bridge"? somebody???), 'take
me away from the confines of my own back yard' or something like that, it
starts with an F chord, then C, then maybe D. then maybe F-C-D-A to wrap
back around to the verse. i forget this part so i'm not completely sure.
remember to let your ear do the thinking, not your fingers.
also, if you're simply playing this song with an acoustic guitar like me,
then in order to more accurately duplicate the song you can play the verse
by starting with a D chord, then throw in an F# bass note, then change to
the G.
you can really play around with this song on guitar and probably come up
with a good rendition. my guitar is most always tuned a whole step down so
it sounds thicker and chunkier, and ethereal when i play with open chords on
a song like 'go down easy'. feels good like that. . .
hope that was helpful. i can relate to the frustration of not being able to
play otr songs. i remember when 'all i need is everything' was utterly
impossible for me to figure out. now that i've been playing for several
years i can figure almost all of them out, and i'm really not terribly
musically inclined- so keep playing and your ear will develope! it's a
journey.
