Re: PasteMusic.com/OTR

I tried to send this when the issue first came up, but my post never showed
so here goes attempt #2 ...

As an OTR list member and one-third of PasteMusic.com, I'd like to try to
respond, if I may. First, I want to thank those of you who chimed in about
your good experiences with Paste. And secondly, I'd like to apologize to
those who have had problems, including Julie. We should not have stooped
to responding rudely to rudeness, and I'm sorry.

We've grown a little more rapidly than we anticipated due to a great
response from fans looking for music with a little more depth and from our
merger with WeatherVane Music in November. The last two months have been
especially busy. I flew down from Sioux Falls to Atlanta for Christmas and
stayed up until 3 a.m. helping pack orders to make sure they got to people
before Christmas. We're now working to hire a separate fulfillment company
to ship the CDs for us so we can ensure 2-day turn-arounds and reintroduce
ourselves to our wives. This doesn't excuse either the order delays or
rudeness, but should raise our customer service this year.

We started PasteMusic.com to help artists we love like Vigilantes of Love
and Over The Rhine who play music that really connects with people to
audiences looking for something more than is on the radio. We think we've
created a place where people can go to discover new music that matters,
regardless of whether it's "Christian" or "secular." We rely on grassroots,
word-of-mouth support from fans of those artists, and customer satisfaction
is our number one priority. We know there have been lapses, but we hope
that we can eliminate those this year.

On a more OTR-related note, the band was our biggest seller for the month of
December with albums taking the #3, 4 and 7 slots. We're excited about their
contract, and should continue to get the new albums (the re-release of GDBD
and the upcoming brand new release) straight from the band because of a very
aritst-friendly clause. We hope this is a new model for Paste-type artists
that
helps them retain creative control and a grassroots push while giving them big
label exposure.

Sincerely,
Josh Jackson
